Raymond Campbell
Biography
Born in 1956 in Surrey, Raymond was convinced even as a schoolboy that he could make painting his way of life. Raymond’s artistic career has built up from the late 1970’s when he returned to the UK after travelling and studying in Europe. Gifted with a natural ability he has worked towards achieving his goal.
He has a great love of food and drink and a fantastic collection, gained over the years, of interesting antiques and wine artefacts. When doing a painting he enjoys choosing one main object and then creating a balance around it with a variety of items, using a wealth of detail and an intriguing combination of light and shadow.
During the last ten years he has exhibited in group exhibitions at home and abroad and has been successful at the Summer Exhibition held at the Royal Academy. His exhibitions are enormously popular and for many years have been sold out shows.
In 1997 he held his first solo exhibition in Australia where he found new collectors appreciating his compositions of exotic foods and lush fruits, wine bottles, corkscrews, fresh cheeses and porcelain. Also over the years he has specialised in painting Teddy Bears, many of which have been published by Rosenstiels as prints. In 1998, Raymond had his first Limited Edition Prints published by De Montfort, a pair of prints depicting two of the finest first growth wines of the Bordeaux region.
