John Bampfield
Biography
Born in the Midlands just after the last War, John Bampfield now lives with his wife and family in West Cornwall. A hard worker and prolific painter, his main relaxation is to ride the rough Atlantic surf. With a free impressionist style, his subjects are many a Cornish harbour with the fishing boats shown at varying states of the tide, wet street scenes and Quaysides, flower sellers in Paris, the buildings of Westminster or Venice and in his early days a troop of Military redcoated figures on parade or on the battlefield. More recently after several inspirational visits to Provence, John is using his painting style to great effect, producing work with a tremendous strength of colour and vitality.
